tea tree oil

Extremely toxic, especially lethal to cats. Cats lack glucuronyl transferase and cannot metabolize terpene compounds. Even small skin contact or ingestion can cause ataxia, tremors, muscle weakness, vomiting, and acute liver failure. ASPCA and Pet Poison Helpline both list it as a severe toxin.

Other common names: melaleuca oil, melaleuca alternifolia, tee tree oil, tea tree extract, 茶樹油, ティーツリーオイル, メラルーカ, 白千層油
